I'm at work, and dp hasn't got much work on (roofer) so is at home. He normally does the shopping, but I was talking to him last about OS and he didn't seem that enthusiastic. Said he'd already cut the shopping bill down.
Anyway, today he's been to our local butchers for the first time and bought some meat. He got 8 large pork chops, 8 chicken breasts (bigger than the MrT ones we normally have), 500g of nice mince and a large pork joint (we use it for at least 2 meals) for just over £30. Obviously it's going to be better quality, and half of the chops and chicken are for the following week. Sounds like he's had a good old chat with the butcher, as he wasn't very impressed when he cooked pork chops last night at the amount of water coming out. I now just have to persuade to get cheaper cuts of meat!
Then he went to the vegetable place (supply to shops etc but have their own shop) and bought all our fruit and veg there.
Very impressed!

That was a good deal for the meat from butcher OP. Jamie Oliver has some good recipes for cheaper pork cuts if that helps xMummy to two beautiful girls and one gorgeous boy.0 -
