Ikea - refund with out receipt?

Hi,
Please does anyone know if I could return something to Ikea having lost the receipt? I would be happy even to get vouchers or an exchange if they won't do a cash refund but not sure if they'll even do this - has anyone ever done this?
Many thanks - as I've bought in Ikea before but never had to return anything.

Not a chance unless you just fancy a fight with them. They are militant about it.
If you have your credit card statement or something then you might be lucky and get a credit note but I've had security called for trying to exchange a faulty gift without a receipt (hello? It never worked, I was given it therefore no receipt and I only wanted a straight swap - why would i want a straight swap if i were theiving?!) I was holding my three month old baby at the time.
I got a full written apology and more vouchers back than the product was worth after the real customer service manager found out about the mental sales assistants hysteria and blatant lying.
Not only did she lie about her position, saying she was the manager but she then lied to the real manager and said that I was trying to get a refund and that there was nothing wrong with the product - she only needed to plug it in but refused, just decided I was lying and then called security to try and have me ejected from the store!
The security guard called his manager who let me just go and do my shopping after he found out it was her. She obviously had a bit of a reputation. Honestly, if you see me, you'd never find me a threat!
You've been warned :rotfl:Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

If the item has been opened then the most you will get back it 70%, as they will have to put it into bargain corner. But I think you would still need some form of proof of purchase.
BTW I hope the mentalist isn't in the Nottingham store as that's where I go.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
I took damaged stuff back to Ikea without a receipt and they were fine with me and I was refunded onto a gift card. If you have a family card that might help them trace it.0

Yes and no. If you bought the item within the last 3 months and paid via credit or debit card and you take a copy of your statement with the entry on it then yes you will get a refund. However if it was outside 3 months then they won't. Its much easier to get a voucher if you can plead no receipt and inside 3 months. HTH0 -

I won a MTV comp of Ikea vouchers in Feb last year and have had a nightmere over them (bear in mind Ikea is a three hour drive away from me! )
First They sent me vouchers with no money on!
Then the next Vouchers had a block on them
Mtv and Ikea both blaiming each other and neither giving me my win so in the end I went to ISP who got in on the search for my win and now Trading Standards have got involved! If you see someone without a smile give them one of yours,
It wont cost you anything!
