Really? I was gven the opposite impression from this:

    www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/transport/4691657/GM-seeks-partner-for-ailing-Vauxhall.html

Is it Vauxhall who are also Opal....they are very popular in Italy for some reason:confused:

I think Opel are the europe brand of Vauxhall and visa-versa.

I thought Vauxhall had been sinking for years and with GM in the mire who knows.

Saab have not made a profit since 2001:eek:

    I've been Money Tipped!
Hmm. Maybe I should go and see if there is a Saab to suit me....presumably they'll be 'on sale' soon?

I regret spending so much money on my car this year to avoid making the next car choice, but maybe I'll recoup that in the reduction of next car now?

That's correct, shame really, the '80's stuff was great fun, my dad had a couple, quick, comfy and built well.

9-3 are low now they could crash. But after speaking to people with rover 75's etc.
If they close Saab parts are going to be silly money. (i spoke to a guy yesterday average bill on his rover 75 was over £1000 and that was for fairly routine repairs. )

My dad has a N Reg 900 with just over 160,000 miles on the clock and still passing every MOT. (electrics are starting to play up a bit now though)

I thought Ford were trying to offload Volvo, in todays climate the large US manufacturers will retrench, I can see Volvo going the way of Saab in the near future

Volvo will get sold or brought out don't forget they don't just make cars (volvo trucks etc.) and have been profitable up untill last year (but how much of that is Ford spreading losses?)

Saab have a far more limited market (salons or estates) I think that is why they are strugling also flushing their middle class image down the pan was not a good idea.
