Breadmaker help please - first time I have used it, not working?

I was freecycled a HInari breadmaker today, cleaned it all up and used a packet mix for my first attempt, well it rose well (hit the glass bit you look in), but it never cooked at all, the said loaf is in the oven as we speak.
Is it broken? Or could it be that it rose too high?
Thanks

Any chance you put it on the dough setting? This would do the mixing and rising only.0

No, definately the basic setting, checked every ten minutes for the first hour!
Thanks for replying though, not sure whether to try again in the morning and if it does it again to just bin it.Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together.0 -
maybe the element has gone - after it has done the rising and kneading there is an element that heats up which cooks the bread - does the breadmaker feel warm?
if it has managed to rise the dough i would think it would be at least heating to a warm temp but maybe just not reaching the req temp to cookThe mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work unless it’s open.:o

It did not seem warm at all, certainly easy to touch with bare hands and there was no smell of bread cooking at any point.Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together.0

it sounds like the element then - mine is a prima but the breadpan sits just above the element and if you check it about 15 mins before end of cooking you can see it glowing red - just like an electric grill type thing - if you are happy using it to mix the dough and then cook in the oven then you could do that - i doubt it would be worth trying to get a repair done - have you emailed the person you got it off - i know its freecycle but maybe they would know something ??The mind is like a parachute. Might be worth a call to the manufacturers, they usually have a customer helpline. I've had great service from Morphy Richards in the past, though don't know anything about your make.
Just had another thought, does it have a bake only setting? You could try it on this, (empty) just to see if the element heats up.0 -
Thanks guys, think I will try it again in the morning just to be sure and may well use it to make the dough and finish in the oven until I get another one.Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together.0
