Is anyone able to recommend a family tree software package?
I really only want to upload or even manually add the information I already have in my tree on 'The Genealogist' website as I would like the ability to save the infomation I have to my computer or CD. I don't know much about GEDCOM but I presume it's best to buy a package which has this option?
Any help would be gratefully received as I am now getting REALLY addicted to this genealogy thing!!

Otherwise Family Tree Maker is the most widely used programme you can buy. Look out for offers in the usual places online or in the shops. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -

Thanks for that Grumpelstiltskin!
I've just ordered the platinum version from Avenquest through Quidco (25% cashback) plus a discount code from Hot UK Deals for £25 off! :T

I use legacy 6 : I am fairly sure the basic one is is available as a free download; also recommend brothers keeper which does amazing charts. Both should handle gedcom.0
