Printing money

We now keep hearing that the goverment is prepairing to give the go ahead to print money, thus making more money available, as all else seems to have little effect on the " credit crunch", is this not just a backdoor method to de-value peoples pensions and savings and make any debt less of a problem,
as printing money must pave the way to inflation.:rolleyes:
