My mortgage with FD completed today, since I applied we have had two further rate cuts so keeping my fingers crossed rates stay low for a while as have paid a huge redemption. A gamble I know but in remortgaging have shaved four years off the term already and aim to throw as much money at mortgage as possible. the boe rate needs to rise to 4% before we are back at our fixed rate mortgage.
    £2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far

+ however may £2 coins I have saved in my Terramundi since 2000.

    Terramundi weighs 8lb 5oz

Ours is due to complete on Wednesday so my fingers are crossed too! We have knocked 6 months off our term so that will more that pay the two grand penalty. I just hope we have done the right thing as well but we have left a 10 year fixed at 6.13% which has 8.5 years left.

Took about 6 weeks from application to completition for us. We probably lost a week as well as we were on holiday when the forms were sent to us.

I was originally told it would take around 14 weeks due to high demands, so pretty impressed overall. At least they are up fromt and honest.

  • Well, I to can only hope BoE rates stay under 5% into 2010 and maybe 2011 to allow me to clear some of my personal debt as I am not in a position to be able to remortgage.

I am on a tracker .99% above base rate lifetime tracker, although I can afford the mortgage if rates do climb to between 5% and 9% it would just take me that much longer to clear the debts.

If I could fix now, I would love to, but my LTV is about 92%, so even with overpayments would still struggle to get a good deal.
