in debt, unemployed and dont get benefits

hi there hope somebody out there can give me some solid advice on this matter. quick rundown of my situation. me and my partner have shared a house for the last 3 years, i have been unemployed for almost a year, my partner is currently off work with illnesss and has been for over 2 years. i dont recieve any benefits as we made a joint claim and basically the good old government says we have enough to survive on based on her income alone. i should mention she also recieves dla money once a month and incapacity support fortnightly i think, i know one payments monthly and one fortnightly. anyway i think we are maybe 10 to 15 pounds over the governments guidelines for living so as well as paying full rent, we dont get any housing benefits and pay this in full. as you can imagine we dont have a lot of spare cash or savings but do have a bit of debt each. im sick and tired of telling these people i dont have any income and rely on my partner to keep me which can be humbling at best of times and its usually met with "so can you pay the £500 today mr...." while all the time the debt increases and interest goes up then they offload my file to any bounty hunters out there who also slap a fee on top of my debt. im now at wits end and dont know how this big ball of debt will stop if indeed it ever will. i think im diverting here so has anyone got advice. has anyone been in a similar situation, what can i do. ive been getting a lot of calls from some keen companies who want to help and somehow think that i can pay them £150 a month to clear my debt, ABACUS was todays waste of time and energy just seems a con. should i just go to citizens advice or maybe try get a loan to get legal help. hope someone replys and sorry for taking ages to post this thread. cheers
