I am probably about $7,000 in debt. I have a lot of things in collections at the current time. I getting about 6,100 back in taxes. Most of them are utility companies which totals out to about $1,070.00 which I'm planning to pay off when I get my taxes back. But I also have two payday loans from 4 years ago which god knows how much interest is on them by now:eek: my question is I was told after 7 years it falls off your report do I call and settle? Do they negotiate these at a lower pay off price. I know it was stupid to take them out in the first place but I was upon hard times.
Also I have a repo on my record from July 2004 I still owe them 4,000 plus on the car. Do I call and negotiate that as well? I'm just concerned that if I pay these before the 7 year period it wil affect my credit and bump up the dates. I also live in NY so the SOL is 6 years I believe. What should I do I want my debt paid and want to it the smartest way possible. Any suggestions?

Hi.

This is a UK site, so we don't generally know very much about debts in the USA.
Do you have something like a community debt advisor that you could go to?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
