Help
We had a loan with the Halifax at the start of 2006 for home improvements, Later that year we had other improvements, so we remortgaged and payed lots of debts.
At that time we payed off so many things, we thought everything had been payed.
Only to receive a Statement from the Halifax in December 2008 showing that we still owed 1,400.00 in 2006 and now over 7,000.00 with interest, this was the first letter or even a statement in 3 years.
We wrote back asking why they have let this accumulate to so much with out any contact, the letter we have received back just gives the total to pay and asking for £345.00 a month.
This is the same bank that stopped our credit card because we did not use it for 9 months.
Help Please

At first sight this is shocking.
From £1,400 to £7,000 in a couple of years.
Were there any missed payment charges etc etc.?

On the Statement they have missed payment charges and the monthly charges. i just cannot understand why they have not been in touch with me for about 3 years.
I have just requested a statement and confirmation of all payment and letters that they have sent to me.
Then i can try to find out where i stand on this situation.0 -
How did you pay your other debts off when you did them all at once? You need to check carefully and see if in fact you did send them a payment.
They might have settled someone elses account with your money. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.0
