Panicking over Slaters...

We order the clothes for the Groom and our son from Slaters back in January so they would match. I asked the sales man at the time when the clothes would be in and he said the week before to check sizes (especially with our son as children can grow quickly), that way if there was a problem a new size could be sent to the shop for the wednesday (our wedding is on the saturday).

I have just checked the invoice and it says that the clothes will not be in stock until wednesday (my partner is in work all week and would not be able to get any time off for a fitting). I rang the shop to query this and the very unhelpful assistant just said they are not due in until tuesday:mad: , but they might come with fridays deliveries.

There is no way I can/would risk waiting until 2 days before the wedding to find out if the clothes fit ok, but then where are we going to find matching (probably no chance) or just nice suits the week before the wedding.

Has any-one used slaters? Will the clothes come in ok? If not where am I best going?

I know of Slaters and know people who have used them without any problems. I would suggest that you ring them, ask to speak to the manager (not one of the assistants) and find out what is going on. It maybe that your OH will have to take some time off work to go for a fitting, not convenient but if needs must.

....my partner is in work all week and would not be able to get any time off for a fitting.....

Perhaps he could speak to his manager & ask if he can take either a longer lunch-break (unpaid) or start an hour later, they will be OK with him going to try his wedding suit.......has he actually raised the issue in work or is it just an assumption that he wouldn't be able to take the time?

slaters are very good and pride themselves on customer service so i agree you should speak to a manager.

you could ask for them to call (text whatever) as soon as the things arrive. they do in-house alterations so if there are only small adjustments i'm sure you could insist they be given priority and done on the spot if it's late.
  • The problem with his job is he is part of an new section so there is a complete ban on all holidays until April, he also works out of the city so would not be able to go in his lunch.

Luckly they have rang today and the clothes have come in early.
  • I'm not sure which Slaters you're ordering from, but most can make alterations in store, so they could have them ready in no time at all. OH has had suits there before and has had them altered within a hour or two. I would still ring to talk it through with them, but I'm sure they can make any adjustments in no time at all :)

Ha ha - just read that they've come in - oh well. Glad that you're all sorted......
