Afternoon, Ive put this because I am starting a new job soon, and wondered if the NHS can do anything to assist or help.
I was made redundant 6 months ago, and had enough to last till end of January regarding rent (private) and bills etc, but now it is so hard I dont know what to do, my wife earns minimum wages, and has to pay rent bills and food so you can imagine we just dont have enough, my brother in law lives with us and used to give us money but broke his wrist and is off work for 10 weeks and doesnt get half of what he did and gives us less. I start with the NHS on the 3rd March but wont get aid till the end of march which is a whole month away, bills are getting left, the only thing im concentrating on is rent and electric all others can wait, a contact at the NHS said there was something out there where if you was employed on a monthly salary you could get some small help, but I have no idea where to start looking, does anyone have any ideas.
Kind Regards

Hi
Apart from saying that you live in private rented accommodation, you haven't given too much detail.
Do you have children? Are you on a low income? Do you claim Working Tax Credit? Is your brother-inlaw claiming sick pay?
I suggest that you contact your local Citizens Advice Bureau, they are in the telephone book or you can google them, and you can get confidentail advice - you may be eligible for benefits. See www.adviceguide.org.uk
It is important to pay your Council Tax as this is considered a priority debt .0 -
It is a long shot and you'd maybe have more chance if you worked for a small to medium business, but have you thought of asking your boss for help.
Perhaps you could get an advance on your wages.0
