Buying a house, but already have a fixed rate mortgage

I wonder if anyone can help please?
I have a fixed rate mortgage on my current property which is due to end in July 2010. Where do I stand on buying a house now?
I now that if I end the fixed rate, I will have lots of fees to pay back, but is there anyway of taking the fixed rate over to the new house for the remaining year?
Any advice owuld be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

sometimes you can "port" the mortgage from one house to another. Im with nationwide and I am doing this - I was told you need to port the whole amount (ie not buying a cheaper house. we are also borrowing extra) but it was really easy to port it across. our fixed deal ends in Dec 2009.

I take it you are selling your house? In order to port your mortgage you will have to satisfy your lender's current criteria, ie will need a deposit. If you post the full details someone can help you - or phone your lender/
