Incorrect Info On My Credit Report By Natwest- Please Help!!

This is my first time i am using this site and not sure if i am writting to the correct thread or not...
I desperatly need advice or guidance on what to do with my current situation. I have noticed that there is an incorrect information in my Equifax credit report put in by NatWest. There is a default account from someone else who has similar birthday and first name with me in my credit report and i have disputed it with Equifax but they told me that i ought to contact NatWest. I contacted NatWest and they said that its not their responsibility and that i should contact Equifax and they can't discuss the account as i am not the account holder. surely, this alone proves that i am not the correct person. I have never opened an account with NatWest and dont know who this person is in my credit profile. I am worried sick and dont know what to do? Do NatWest have the right to put other people info in credit profile just because somsone happen to have the same birthday or similar first name?

Get back onto Natwest, they need to sort it out. I would put it in writing asking for your details to be removed immedialty etc etc and you want written confirmation from them to confirm this has been done. If you dont get any joy threaten them will legal action. You can also ask the credit ref agency to put a note against that entry in the meantime.
