King Size Bed Divan?

Hi All,

I would like to find a king size divan bed (with 4 drawers) Cheapest I've found is at homebase (479.99 with memory foam mattress).

Is this a good price? Cheers.

We were shopping for a new KS bed last year. Tried out many and went for one from Dreams which was best value - the guys couldn't get the base up our stairs when they came to deliver it so it went back, and we forfeited a significant amount for what they called a cancelled order! Most unhelpful people so don't take any notice of the smiley guys in blazers in their shops!

As always John Lewis were the most helpful. We explained the problem we had had with Dreams and they said well if you buy one from us and we can't get it up the stairs that's our problem not yours. We chose a divan base with memory foam matress and come delivery day their guys tried every which way but just couldn't make it round the bend in the stairs - only a few cm short!

So in the end we sent back the base, kept the JL mattress, and went to Ikea where we got a base I could assemble in situ - problem solved! Ikea had some very good prices on beds....

Usually divans come as part of two 'blocks' then a mattress sits on top right?

Im sure if its two seperate blocks I could fit it through a door.

Did the base come as one part then? This is very unusual.

Try and stay away from big retailers, and big brands.

The best way to get more for your money as well as reliability is to shop on line, and go for independent manufacturers.
  • tried posting a link then and it went doolally

go to offer of the day . co . uk and search

king divan 4 memory, then sort in order of price. Tesco are cheap at £405

They are 2 pieces but the split can be across or along

That's the same with most manufacturers.
  • NEVER use Dreams beds. They are all helpful advice and smiley faces when you visit but then do not give a toss for your order. I was promised a delivery date for new tenants in my flat and the day before - after numerous phone calls - they informed me the furniture was still in Germany and would never have been there on time. The firm is totally unreliable, have terrible customer service and aren't even cheap because their so called 50% off is off ludcrously inflated prices. You have been warned - I am still waiting for my deposit back

I'm going to hijack your thread if you don't mind... :)

Looking for a king size wooden bed, no more than £200. Was originally considering Ikea however their 160x200 frame is slightly larger than my standard 150x200 KS mattress.

Any recommendations for decent online stores?

Remember Ikea work on continental sizes and not UK sizes. So really if you buy a bed frame and mattress buy them both from Ikea so they fit nicely. Don't forget the sheets as well.

    UK Sizes Ikea
    Single 90 x 190 90 x 200
Small Double 120 x 190 ??????? if available at all
    Double 135 x 190 140 x 200
    King 150 x 200 That's all the info I could find on Ikea's website.
    Super King 180 x 200

Notice no such thing as Queen Size bed!
