Comet - happily selling goods to cloned Credit card frauds?

Hi,

A friend of mine's CC got somehow skimmed and has been used to buy goods from Comet (for nearly £5k !).
When she found out she contacted Comet to try and cancel the order/despatch.
The staff was very unhelpful:
"The goods are already on the van and, anyway, it's covered by your card's insurance. Just sort it out with your bank."

So Comet refused to cancel the order, refused to give her the delivery address, which my friend wanted to pass on to the police.
The police said they couldn't do anything either...(actually makes you wonder what they still can and want to do these days).
My questions:
- Who are they to refuse you, the actual owner of the CC, to cancel an order?!?!?
- Has anyway experienced something like this with Comet, or any other high street store?
- What did you do, or manage to get done?

I feel like never ever spending a penny there ever again.
It's like ANY sale they do is all that counts nowadays, fraudulent or not...

  • I had a similar response from Amazon.

After calling my bank following a high spend sms message, I called Amazon to see if they could stop the order and prevent their loss. They simply weren't interested. The woman on the phone said, "it's been authorised so we will deliver it"

She couldn't understand that her company would lose out by doing so as soon as the chargeback was activated.
