Woolich/barclays

We took out a mortgage with woolwich for £15200 23 years ago and we still owe £5000.

what went wrong was that woolwich found out it was illegal to put buildings and content insurance on mortgage. They dropped our monthly charge to £65 we contacted them by phone and told them mortgage wouldnt pay in 25 years they told us i was wrong. Have carried on paying extra amount.

Barclays are taking the £65 every month and the additional payment goes on once a year.

Have received letter saying we owe £5000 would we like to pay fully now and bythe way have added 2 years to the mortgage because wont clear in 2 years  . They refuse to increase monthly payment and suggest we pay extra into an isa and pay a bulk payment once a year.

Any advice please
