    Hi
luckily though when you are part time we get £2 hour more than full time rate

 I'm surprised nobody has taken an "equal pay for work of equal value" claim out against your employer if this is the case.

It isnt like that. We used to all get the same but then the full timers got the option of reducing their hours by 3 hours a week for the same pay and because the part timers couldnt have their hours reduced this is how it has panned out. Nobody really cares as some full timers get all different rates anyway for different grades etc. I know it sounds unfair but it isn't as you get a lot of perks being full time that you wouldn't necessarily get part.

I'm assuming that these are balances?

Please post up your credit limits - including any cards that you have but are not using.

If you have room with your other limits, there may be some scope to get the MBNA run cards back on 0% for 6 months.

Hi I had just paid my MBNA off when I transferred my overdraft onto it,this was at a limit of £1800 but they increased it to £3000 but for obvious reasons I kept to the £2600 so I have £400 (but will not use that)
    Sky Card Limit is £8.500
    Virgin limit is £4000
Amazon card limit is £3600 but they will not do BT I tried that

I have been approved for an Egg card and Mint but they offer me a limit of Egg £650 and Mint £400 (cant blame them)
Have just closed down a Captial One account I had for years but owed nothing the limit on that was £6.000 so i thought about re-applying in 3 months at there 0% rate?
i know it seems terrible and muddley that's why i am on here asking for help.

Capital One haven't got a 0% BT card on their website at the moment, although I hear that various leaflets are dropping out of magazines for 15 months 0% with a fee. I understand that you can apply for a new Capital One card more or less as soon as you've closed one down, but you might want to wait a while if you've been searched a few times recently.

Virgin are very good with repeat 0% offers at the moment. There may be some scope here and with MBNA if you can move the debts off the cards. You could then call Virgin to close the account. They would hopefully put you through to customer retention who could offer you 0% for 6 months. You may also be able to close down the MBNA card and get that limit transferred over onto your Virgin card (same company) prior to making your BT's from your interest bearing cards. You need to have a zero balance with them to get the best offers.

How about appealing the Egg & Mint credit limits? Even £1K on each would help.

I'm puzzled as to why Amazon won't take another BT.

I hope I've given you something to think about. Good luck.

    Hi
Guess what? Just looked at my recent Amazon credit card and there is a note on it saying that I can transfer an amount of £2400 at 0% til June, only oil in ointment is I havent had my bill off MBNA yet and certainly don't posess a card so cannot do transfer til get bill but I thought it was good news nonetheless. I think the bill is due next week so will just do the balance transfer as it is free to transfer (no hidden 2% jobbies) then and then cancel the MBNA one. Yes you are right about the searches I got my up to date credit reports and looks terrible on the search front although all accounts showing 0000 which is something,I guess.

    Cheers B

    Hello, just a few thoughts.....

You seem to be paying a lot of money out for Life assurance £70 odd pounds between you (am obvouisly not sure how old you are - seems pretty expensive) My wife and I (43 and 40) are only paying £55 for two policies (£270K mortgage protection over 18 years and £100K level term over 22 years). Remember you can cancel your current 'term policies' - if that is what they are - and take out new ones, the price if that type of insurance has been rapidly falling over the last few years. Try Cavendish insurance, recommended by Martin and MSE.

Also house Insurance, if you haven't claimed this year you can cancel your current policy and find a cheaper alternative right now. I have managed to cut mine back by £130 this year by using Norwich union Direct and then making Barclays match the offer with £50 cashback! There are threads about that on here. (assurance section),

You could also buy your way out of your car finance package - i take it it is a PCP? So long as you have some equity in it - ie car worth more than settlement figure you could trade down. - Just a thought.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks Pete,
the critical illness is what cripples the amounts,I am 30 and hubby is 38 so i am going to check that and swap over for something cheaper,we are both pretty fit,I smoke 3 a day and that will be stopping shortly! hubby doesnt smoke or drink like me (I hate alcohol!)
House insurance we claimed last july for Carpet (genuine paint spillage) but will be def moving that over as so expensive

The car is a 55 plate Renault Megane Scenic and is the top end scale beinga priveledge,we did howver buy the car with the fact in mind that it is to last as long as it lasts ie: will never upgrade wanted for years. But it is definately worth a think as at the end of the day a car is a car and we could always get a better one for cash in later years!

    Thanks for the advice

Can I suggest that you charge your friend interest on the debt if he can't pay you in full - he needs to understand that you cannot afford to loan him money for free right now.
