Credit Cards - Miss payments

Over the last few years my debts have got out of hand :-(
I put my house on the market just before the credit crunch in the hope of making enough profit to clear the majority of my debts.
Unfortunately while seeing few potential buyers and dropping 20K of the price i have been using up cards to pay minimum payments on other cards plus additional essentials (I have not even been blowing them on luxury items).
It has now got to the stage that i am maxed out with about 18K on credit cards. I am having to sell some things to afford to pay them. Although i have really cut back on spening it looks like in April i will not be able to pay the minimum payment on any of them (food, bills and mortgage come first).
Although i realise that late fees will be added and my credit score will be shot what actions do the credit card companies take and after how long when i stop making payments?
Thanks in advance.

Can I suggest you contact CCCS or Payplan for free debt advice - come to think of it, post on the CCCS debt advisor's thread on this board. You will be asked to do a SOA (statement of affairs). If you also post that (here), you will get lots of advice on here on how to start to sort it out.
Good luck.0
