Unemployed or not unemployed?.

Hello
Am hoping someone knows the answer to this:

situation at present is:
Both my partner & I are claiming JS.

I have the chance of a job which would bring in around £90 p.w. (which is about £4.00 less than we get from JS.

I take job as we are no worse off fiancially overall.

Question:
Can my partner still sign on as unemployed even though he would not qualify for any benefit...BUT would still actually be unemployed.

Reason:
He was laid off after 3 months in new job...mortgage payments are covered by Mortgage Protection Insurance (unemployment) for 1 year...BUT only if he get's forms signed every month by Job Centre confirming he is still claiming.
(This Mortgage is with his ex wife...before my time so they can't take it out of my income.)

Dilemma = If he cannot show proof that he is signing on the Mortgage Insurance will not pay anymore they claim.

Is there anyway round this?.
Non payment = repossession...house for sale now but with state of market nothing happening...obviously he would rather it sold than be repossessed and lose all equity in it.

Signing on as unemployed is not exactly the same as claiming and receiving Jobseekers Allowance.

You can still sign on even if you are not entitled to income based JSA. That way you also get NI credits.

Your partner will be still entitled to JSA. The first £10 of your earnings will be disregarded which, if you are earning £90 per week, will leave him with an entitlement of £14.95 per week.
