First online grocery shopping experience

Options
It has been a long time since the last post and in the meantime I have been feverishly growing my own, buying locally and learning how to fillet fowl and make even more food from scratch. I want to be a leftovers queen too! But today I did my first online grocery shop and think (have to wait until it arrives on the doorstep) I saved about £15.00....this week. No matter how hard I budget, I don't always get to do the shop and as much as I adore my OH, his trip around the aisles always seems to add so much more to the bill!
Recent events in life and work have made me more determined than ever to reduce expenditure while at the same time not letting anyone feel deprived....anyway, just wanted to share.

  • I must admit that i use Sainsburys online service as i dont spend as much either and the quality is better than MrT's.

I should use it more but i need an excuse to get out of the house with my 2 rug rats!
  • Hi, I occasionally use online, not sure if I save much money as I keep adding things over a few days, I also still "scoop" up the bargains like in store!! I too like Sainsys better than the others but Mr T has me hook, line and sinker for those lovely deals vouchers!!!

I used to but don't do it any more as I never get a free delivery voucher and find the cost prohibitve without one.

I haven't had a free delivery voucher for ages either and wont pay for the delivery. Martins email this week says that there is a free asda delivery code for first time users.

I find that when others do my shopping it always costs more and they come back with all sorts of extras. I know that I can buy certain things cheaper from shops like B&M's and Farmfoods but dont often get the time to shop around.

I have been shopping online for a few months now and definately find it not only cheaper but also much less stressful. I am quite happy to pay the delivery charge purely for the fact that I don't have to get shoved around asda on a weekly basis.
I won't ever go to a shop again. I'm just hoping for the day when morrisons start doing deliveries.
I used to suffer from lack of motivation.... now I just can't be arsed.

Morrisons doing deliveries would be great. They seem to have all the best 3for2's and bogofs.

I'v only bought online from Tesco before and they are okay, but as I said it is the delivery charge that puts me off. It's only down the road so the petrol doesn't really come into it.

  • I do an online shop with Mr A, got free delivery code this time. I think it's worth it, as I don't like local supermarket and I don't drive. Also have 4 hungry kids and an OH who knows what he likes. Meal plan, list and I always think do I really need more pasta, rice, lentils etc before I buy anymore. I also try stick to a budget swopping things, and putting things back, till I'M satisfied:D Joys of online shopping:rotfl:
