Whats the latest Harry Potter book

My mum is wanting to buy the latest Harry Potter book for one of her friends birthday and they want a first edition.
Can someone tell me the title of the latest one and where I might look for a first edition and where I would look to get one from.

The most recently published Harry Potter book is the last one in the series, that's 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows'. Or, there's the 'tie-in' book 'The Tale of Beedle the Bard'. For a first edition, maybe try ebay or amazon? Given the massive print runs of both you'd probably find one easily. I'd imagine for the second book the ones being sold might still be first editions.

Thanks for that. What does a tie in mean? I have been looking at the deathly hallow one and there does seem to be some on Ebay, it is for one of my mums friends who collects HP books that are first editions so any thoughts on hallow or Bard.?

What does a tie in mean?

The book is generally written by the same author, on a similar theme .
In this case JKR mentions The Tale of Beedle the Bard'. in her last HP book.
The 'bard' gives clues to help defeat .. he who should not be named'


Ps just to make your mums friend REALLY jealous, my girls met JKR and got personally signed copies of deathly hallow at the Natural History Museum , at 4.30 am some time back.
