 There are loads of inspirational stories on here of people who have paid off even higher amounts hon.
It is totally doable.
Make a plan, make friends with The Snowball, and make it happen!
In the words of Rob Schneider in all of those Adam Sandler movies
You can do it!!!!!

If can most definately be done but not overnight as another poster said.
I'm always telling myself that I/we didn't suddenly wake up one am and find we had this debt and likewise, much as I wish it would at times, we're not going to wake up one morning to find its all magically gone. It will go this year but we'll have achieved that.
It takes time, effort and lots and lots of learning along the way but it can be done. One step at a time is the key and likes lots of us you will slowly but surely get there.
Post up your SOA and let the friendly experts help.

Thanks every1. Going to bed now, but will sort my SOA out tomorrow night and post.
Have already saved 33.50 tonight by a phone call to Sky. We changed our package from 21.50 to the minimum and then because of the situation with our jobs, this has been discounted to 3 pound per month (we have been with sky for a number of years). Have changed our phone to them from BT (will take 14 days) but it's only 10 per month and all calls are free evenings and weekends and cos we are tied in2 mobile phone contracts we will use those for through the day. We are also 42 in credit with them due to changing our package last month from 47 to 21.5 so won't have nothing to pay for the next 3-4 months.
In the middle on cancelling our Internet agreement with Pipex and will be signing up for th 5.99 a month one that was on the MSE email this week.
Thanks for all your advice. I will be lurking around the boards now - especially as we can't afford to go anywhere!!!!!

Just to reiterate what others have said - it is a hard slog!
After a while of getting into moneysaving I actually quite enjoy it now and shop for bargains. I can now live and feed my animals well on less than I used to! I live more healthily and appreciate money more. I'm not tight, just careful with my money now.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free
Mortgage free since 2014

Just over a year ago I owed over £34k, as of about 3rd march I will owe lessthan £20k, I will be debt free in approx April 2010!!!!
There isn't a magic wand solution, but it feels good when you take control and your totaols go down each month.
God luck and try the following:
www.makesenseofcards.com - for the SOA calculator so you know where you are
www.whatsthecost.co.uk/snowball.aspx so that you can see when your debt free date is
then budget and work out how to throw more at your debt
debt free date goes down - feels good!!!!!
Oh and keep a full spending diary so that you can identify where your money goes now and the next place you are going to cut back a bit.
REMEMBER - if you spend better you don't always need to down your quality of life...£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)
