RMA collections - MBNA

Hi knowledgeable folk on here,

wonder if you can help me out.

A company called RMA on behalf of MBNA are harrassing my sister. She's never been good with money and has finally admitted that she's missed payments etc. Got her to contact CCCS and they were brilliant all the relevant paperwork has gone off.

These people wil NOT stop ringing her tohugh. Another chat to CCCS and they confirm that they cannot ring her more than 1 time a day within work hours and to send off a letter saying to remove her phone number (which has gone off yesterday recorded delivery). Cue today and 3 phone calls. On the 3rd one, i was there so told her to ask the caller why his comapny was breaking the rulings and they should stop. The rude man (he ws on answerphone and if i get a hold of him, i'll hurt him) said the law says they are allowe dto call 3 times a day and its not harrassment and maybe she shouldn't be such a bad debter.!! He was challenged again to quote where those figures came from and got really nasty and shouted goodby and slammed down the phone......

So........... other than the letter and ignoring the nasty phonecalls whilst the DMP goes through, is there any point to reporting these people? and who#s right? CCCS (who i believe), or these idiots?

Cheers and sorry for the wrong post!!

  • When I first started out on our DMP journey RMA called me regarding my MBNA account and I will admit they called up to 5 times a day most of the time I ignored them. HOwever I found that once CCCS had sent all the details to MBNA and I made my first proper payment to them the calls stopped.

Hopefully things will die down soon but if not I am sure there will be someone along with the info on who you can report them to.

    Hi

She can report them but more effective is

    1. Refuse to answer security questions. They cannot proceed with the call.

    2. Advise the caller immediately that all calls from the company are being recorded for the purpose of collecting evidence to support a complaint to the OFT and Trading Standards (the one nearest their office not her home).

    3. If the letter required them to remove her telephone number form their records, that she will also be reporting them to the Information Commisioner.

Leave the phone to one side and go away.

  • I wrote a letter of complaint to MBNA and they have stopped calling me. They wrote back with a grovelly letter apologising profusely for the harrassment they had caused me and telling me that they had removed my telephone numbers (home, work and mobile) from their records. They send the occasional letter to me now. So write to their complaints department.

Although, I will add that MBNA are my largest creditor (9k approx), I'm on a dmp with CCCS and MBNA have actually been the nicest to me!
