Thanks for your comments all of you, I am registered with all the local agencies, and am using the full potential of the internet in my search. I'm registered with
Reed.co.uk
Fish4Jobs.co.uk
Monster.com
Jobsite.com
BHJobs.com
I guess that it's a case of the right one will come along, it's just abit soul destroying when I'm getting rejection letters with no interviews taking place before I get them. I still check on the jobsites everyday and I have today alone applied for Six jobs...

if you have a forrest near where you live you could saw or chop up some FALLEN branches bag them up and sell at car boot sales. There's alot of people changing to wood burners nowadays, logs and kindlers could be a nice earner.0

Hi, I own an employment agency and would be happy to look over your CV if you'd like and give you some pointers.
There are some good agencies out there, but there are also some poor ones, or inexperienced Consultants. Not all of them give constructive criticism to people when they see their CV.
I am recruiting for a Company Administrator at the moment to work directly for me (my agency specialises in Finance and Accountancy) and have received several applications from Reed, Total Jobs, Employer Direct and my own website.
The standard of response has been poor to say the least and I can only assume that these people have been given no guidance in applying for jobs. You sound like you're doing the right thing - researching the company beforehand.
The vast majority of applications to my internal role say 'dear Sir' which is bizarre in this day and age; especially as my name is on the advert and I'm a woman! Not one person who has applied through the likes of Reed has looked at my website and referred to it.
My basic advice is to tailor your CV for every single role and write a covering letter that refers to research that you've done on the company (I know that for agency jobs you can't always do this). The advice on temping is excellent. I only recruit for permanent jobs though and if anyone wants any help in finding something suitable or choosing a good agency to work with, then just PM me.
Good luck0 -

I just wanted to say that is excellent advice, and not just to the OP but to anyone who is currently trying to find work in the current climate. You need to make your CV stand out above the 300 other people who are battling for the same role and tailoring your CV to appeal to that particular job, or spending 15 minutes researching the company could be just what is needed to get that all important interview!
Good luck to the OP and hopefully you will find your dream job right around the corner!0 -
Hi, maybe you should consider self-employment. We offer self-employed opportunities and we are finding a lot of people prefer that type of arrangement anyway. You are your own boss but have the support of a network. We have a good FAQs section on the site about becoming self-employed with us but obviously each opportunity is different.Hi,
I lost my job in December as an Admin Asst and I have since been looking for another job with no success. Have had two interviews this week, I thought they went well but someone with better qualifications than me got the roles on both occassions. I have updated my CV read up on the company before attending. But still no luck!
I must of applied for over 60 jobs since December but still only had a total of three interviews. Can anyone offer some guidance on this, or advise me if I'm doing something wrong as I need to work!!!

Thanks Bumblebee.
Design Bunch, I don't think this is the time or the place to be selling your product, which costs people money and isn't relevant to this poster's question.
Doobie - just noticed your avatar. We have a border collie -that's a great pic!0
