I took maternity leave from my work in june 2008.
Between the beginning of the tax year and starting on maternity leave I paid about £1000 tax. Will i be eligible for a rebate or is maternity pay classed as taxable?
Thanks
Sorry about the confusing user name I am a woman!

If you are getting statutory maternity pay only and no 'company' maternity pay you should be getting this plus a tax refund every month through your salary.
If you are getting both, the relevant adjusments will be made though your salary.
Both are taxable.0 -
Thanks - I do have a bit of tax refund every month of about £13 meaning that I receive £474 a month statutory.
So no nice suprises in April for me!0
