Auctions in NI

Myself and my sister are interested in going to a few auctions but are finding it tricky finding details of any. We know about Rosses in the centre of Belfast and have been a couple of times, but we were wondering if anyone knew of local auctions in the north or even Donegal? We're interested in antiques, collectables, that sort of thing. I remember my grandma and my mother going to auctions all the time, but they seem to have died out -- up here in the northwest anyway! Any help or suggestions? Any auction tips?

I've had one recommended - Clabby near Fivemiletown - but haven't got there yet. It's on a Friday night, an old-fashioned "general auction" with everything from farm machinery to house clearances. Might be worth checking up on. Look in the the local papers for house clearance sales, these come up occasionally.

This is near us, it draws a big crowd, you can go on the evenings before it to view what is there. It is very hit and miss, there is an awful lot of rubbish at it but I have a sis who goes every week and she has picked up an odd bargain. There are usually two or three suites of furniture a few hoovers and a million china dogs!

Wilsons in Portadown have a police auction and I think there is one this Saturday, check our their website. It is supposed to be good, all lost and found.

Not in your area, unfortuntely, but there is Bloomfield auctions (Beersbridge Road). I think viewing is on a Monday and auction on Tuesday.
