making your own veil!

Hi ladies

Being on a tight budget im making my own veil, its far cheaper for me as im only wanting a simple short one.

I have found some beautiful tulle in John Lewis which should cost me around £11.50, hopefully less as i wont need a metre. Does anyone have any ideas on how to make a veil tho??!

i was thinking just cutting a square and then gathering up at the top and sewing together and then attaching (somehow) to a comb/clip!

suggestions welcome xxx

  • I can't be certain but I think it's cut in a circle shap. Try having a search on http://www.craftster.org/

It's a great site and if you join up to the forum I am sure someone will have made their own veil or will know how to. Good Luck

If you haven't bought it yet - have you had a look on ebay for veils??

If you think of the cost from JL, plus buying a comb etc, then all the work - you can find veils on ebay for around £15 (sometimes less)

I got a double layer waist length one with ribbon edging for £18.

  • i bought mine from ebay for about a tenner and hten ironed on diamonds. and sowed on a clip that matched my tiara
  • Bind the edges with the same fabric as your dress or use a suitable ribbon. You can either machine it or hand sew carefully.
