PLEASE HELP - have recieved CCJ letter!

Hi All- this is my first time posting- someone from another forum shoved me in your direction- am really hoping someone can help/advice!

I am in bits- as today I recieved a court letter, it's asking me to defend myself and a date and everything..

I basically cancelled a DD with Next back in Nov/Dec, and fully intended to set it up again on a different account, but living a hectic life, I just forgot, and as I never open my Next letters (as they're always statements)- I hadn't even given it a thought that I hadn't reinstated the Dirct Debit.

So now they're asking for £469 (inc. £50 solicitor fee)- money which I don't have AT ALL:eek: - Like i don't even have £100 spare let alone nearly £500.

I am guessing they're asking for the full balance & fees, hence the big amount! But there's no breakdown of what the amount is for.

So I am absolutely SCARED!

What can I do?

Is there anyone who knows if I call Next tomorrow and offer to pay them something there and then (cannot afford anything more than £50 and that is stretching myself this month)- will they accept that, if I promise to pay the balance in 4 lots?

There's no way that in any one month I will ever be able to pay the full charge..

I am so stupid and so scared and upset- please someone advice..

Thanks in advance..

Me x
