Cant sell my car

I recently had the opportunity to buy a little red Fiesta at a really good price, being really into this money saving idea, I bought it with the hope of selling it on and hopefully make about £200 on it. This was in August, I have since spent nearly £300 on advertising it and have not had a single response to the adS, I even dropped the price by £500 to cut my losses, but still no response. Its a great little car but can't even get anybody to look at it. MOT is now due and tax due shortly, another expense!! I cant afford to keep it and I can't sell it. HELP, WHAT CAN I DO????????? All the money I've saved since joining Money Expert, all gone!! and then some. Please, desperate for advice here.

Try http://motors.ebay.co.uk/
Beware of time wasters, emphasise in description that they are bidding to buy not to view, state viewing is available BEFORE end of auction. Anyone bidding not to buy can be reported to eBay, and action taken as appropriate, I’m not sure what this is, you will have to look in terms and conditions.
You can also set a starting or reserve price so it doesn’t get sold below a minimum price.
Have a look through a few cars on eBay before submitting your auction.0 -
I'm trying to sell a van, same result, doesnt matter how low I drop the price there are no buyers. All the online advice says use the local paper first, took out a nice clear ad, got one phone call in four weeks of advertising, then the bloke didnt turn up. Tried autotrader and free ads, no response at all to those ads.0

Give us an idea of the year/mileage & model of the Fiesta & the van too.plus the prices your both asking.
Then maybe we'll get indication of the price you SHOULD be asking.
But trying to sell ANY vehicle, this time of year, isn't easy!!
& as new & nearly new cars are soooooooo good value, even good codition older motors are being scrapped!!

Hi
Thanks for the reply. Its a 2001 X reg 1.8TDI, mileage 37,000., alloys, sunroof. Paid £2500. Tried to sell for £2800 but have spent £300 on advertising.
Do you think should MOt/tax it and try again after Xmas?
Thanks0 -
unfortunately I think without an MOT you are likely to get less interestAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

Wonder if your advert is factual enough, without going over the top/
The info you show here doesn't give the model/spec - there are a 1001 variations on Fiesta!!
One thing which is NOT helping is the fact it's diesel!
Most buyers of Fiesta are female, want LOW running costs & a smaller engine.
The diesel, while giving 50mpg, is DEARER on insurance & tax. plus servicing costs are up, too.
A petrol does 40 -45mpg, anyway!! Saying that, if someone has had a diesel, they don't usually go back to petrol!!
A couple of pointers , worth confirming....
Is it the 'new shape', 'cos you're at the changeover point, on X reg.
Has it got power steering? & Air con (a bonus with a sunroof, too)
Has the cambelt (timing belt) been changed/ This is £150 job worth doing - you're at the mileage for it NEEDING to be replaced!! if it breaks, you £$£$£$£$£ the engine!!
If you can keep it off the highway, no need to tax it - but tell DVLA & complete SORN form (details on your V5 log sheet) But don't use it on the road, without tax or if you've told them it's off road. £$£$£$ fine automatically appears!!
Re MoT it WHEN someone buys it, if it's not run out yet. Then they'll have 12 months fresh test, done for them, when it is sold.
Heres your advert sample...(change bits to suit you!!)
01X Fiesta LX DIESEL, 5 door, 37,000 miles, 2 owners, fresh MoT, cambelt changed, air con, sunshine roof, power steering, stereo, Firefly Red metalic, grey velour upholstry, alloys, spare unused, £2999 01462 999999 or 07850 99999
It's clear & informative - not mis- leading & if you use Autotrader, a nice pic of the car with a background of sky/shrubs or a wall - NOT other cars & a mess, will all help!!
(I don't like Autotrader, too much, but it does have lots readers (not ALL buyers, thougjh!!)
Ask again, if you need more help!

Merry Xmas to you all and hope you save lots of dosh in the new year.0 -
I wouldn't advertise price as "£2999", makes it sound like a dealer.
Just have £3000 or £2950. Catch my drift ?Never buy a stupid dwarf -
Its not big and its not clever.0 -
£2,950 sound much less - for whatever reason!Torgwen..........
