Baby wipes/ wet toilet wipes....need v. mild ones?

Options
Suggestions please for the least likely wipe on the market to cause a skin reaction? Even some of the perfume free ones are not as kind to skin as they first seem.

  • The only brand of wipes that I ever stuck with were Huggies Pure (the plain ones).

I found them to be mild and unstingy (even when scrubbing my eye make up off when I was simply too tired/lazy to do it properly) and used them on DS from newborn and have never had a problem, whereas even the 'Sensitive' Pampers one's brought out a rash

The only website that I've come across that has the ingredients list is Ocado and it does have some scary sounding ingredients in there (I've got the Shea Butter one's in at the moment so can't confirm whether that information is right), but they do genuinely feel mild.

Edit to add: I've just googled 'Huggies Pure' and 'Eczema" and there would appear to be quite a few eczema sufferers who find that they're still able to use Huggies Pure, although as a toilet wipe they can't be flushed.

Have you tried the sainsburys own brand fragrance free ones, I find them quite good, also all wipes are half price there until 24th.
Wouldn't recommend pampers sensitive I used them myself on my :o lady bits and it stung like hell!!!
    Booo!!!
  • Have you considered having reusables?

You take the worst of the poo off with toilet tissue which is then flushed. I then use either fleece or washcloths from pound shop (6 or 8 in a packet). I spray it with the baby bits mixture :

Thanks Js but reusables aren't an option.

Good suggestion though and others might opt for that. :)

You can make your own from a roll of Bounty kitchen roll...

Cut the roll in half so you have two toilet rolls. Remove the inner cardboard tube.

Mix 1/2 cup of witch hazel, 1/2 cup cooled boiled water, a squeeze of baby wash in a sealable box and then pop a roll in also. You could add a drop pf lavender or tea tree oil but not if the baby is <6 months.

The paper will absorb the liquid giving really gentle wipes.

You have to use Bounty as other kitchen towel will disintegrate.

I have to echo what the other person said about Huggies Pure wipes, they are excellent on sensitive skin and nice and thick too

Right then, how about using that spray onto a strong nappy liner, that can be flushed?

Thanks JS but we need something that can be carried easily outwith the house and used easily. It's not actually for baby use. :)

Baby wipes are ideal as a few can be taken out the packet, put into a small poly bag and carried in a pocket.

    Saucy lady? :D
I find asda's sensitive face wipes to be useful.

Hope you find something soon :)

You don't have any control over what life throws at you.
You DO have control over how you react :)
