Contracting to Permenant - Timing

I have been contracting for a company via an agency for over a year now. This has been via a few short term contracts which have been agreed when the current contract ends. My current contract ends on the 31st of March. I have been informed that the company I am working for is trying to agree with the body they supply services to for me to be made permenant. I am thinking that this may just be a line to have me stay to the end of the contract and not drop them in it. They have another employee comning back from another deployment on this date. That being said they did make someone else permenant at this time last year. At the start of the new financial year. It is a public body that we are working for. Does this sound right? Is the start of the new financial year a specifically good time for public bodies to employ people in general?

Any advice well appreciated.
