I went for years to other MOT centres that have a vested interest in doing repairs. I have found a vast decrease in things that fail the MOT, often my 12 year old car sails through and when not they only report what has to be done and give advice on what might need doing soon.
Can you afford to trust your garage? Okay the MOT fee is not subsidised, but have you not wondered why places offer cheap MOTs?
