Do i have any right to claim £5 washing money?
Imashed
I have worked for a large building maintenance company for nearly 5 years and previously 10 years.
And each week i have booked £5 laundry expenses this has never been written in my contract but it has always been booked and now my manager
has decided to save money and has given me a month to find any proof that
i can book this money.
Does anyone know if my company can do this even though i have booked it for 5 years but do not have it in writing.
Thanks

Have you and your employer been declaring this as a taxable benefit?0 -
Do you have £5 worth of laundry expenses a week.
Who told you in the first place you could have this, and why didnt they ask for receipts since you first started to get it. If you can remember refer your manager to them. Its not up to you to provide proof. Its up to him and the person who gave you permission.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

The only legal obligations on your employer are statutory ones and those laid down in your Contract of Employment plus any associated handbook of Terms and Conditions or any T&Cs on their intranet if they have one.
If it isn't documented I don't think you can force them to continue paying this on the basis of them having set a precedent. However, they clearly aren't sure and that is why they have given you a month to find any documentation to indicate that they do have to pay it. What about contacting ACAS and discussing it with them in case there is a rule stating that they have to pay it because they have set a precedent by paying it in the past.I'll never be a Money Saving Expert while my kids are Mony Spending Experts.0 -
This has been a non-taxable benefit, no receipts have ever been asked for .
Differnt managers on various sites have always approved this up until now.
I will try ACAS.
