Hiya, you could put a soft cuddly toy, teether, small nappy cream, baby creams, soap, shampoo, mini toothbrush in for the baby's hamper. For the mum put some chocolates, mini bottles of wine, bath salts, small pot of flowers, DVD, face masks. As for the Dad - again you could put small bottles of wine, cans of beer (whatever he likes), chocolates, Daddy keyring etc.
Hope this helps.0 -
Traditional presents for the new Mum in our circle of friends are new unstretched non-maternity knickers :rotfl:and nail varnish as she'll be able to reach her toes again0

Bibs, comb and brush set, vests/sleepsuits but from 6months onwards tends to be more useful.
Give her this site webaddress - she will find access to so many freebies and deals that she will be set up for the first few months.
MUM: A very BIG set of books to read if b/f. I managed the whole Harry Potter set.
DAD: Cookbook - Mum wont want to/have time to cook for a whilePlease do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.

Maybe take care with the wine as some mums still don't drink alcohol until they stop breastfeeding.
How about a "baby" photo frame (a present for all 3 of them), a voucher for babysitting (if you live close enough to do it yourself!), a scented candle (Champneys do a gorgeous lavender and chamomile one for getting a decent night's sleep)£5 per day challenge

Hi, I am also making a hamper for my best friend whose 1st baby is also due in May. I have bought her various things such as bibs, little shoes, baby toiletries (there have been so many offers for these on lately), I have picked up Disnesy and Tommy Tippee items from Poundland which were an absolute bargain! I have also bought a baby on board sign which when you turn it round says child on board - this was quite a bargain from a large branch of Tesco. I am going to add a newspaper (probably News of The World) which I will purchase on the day of the child's birth so that the child can have this throughout it's life time to remember. I am also going to adda small bottle of champagne, possibly a photoframe and a few other bits. I bought the hamper basket from 99p stores and it is plenty big enough! HTH! ZoeMummy to a beautiful 4 month old princess! x0

how about a nappy cake for baby to add some wow factor?
i'm currently preg n my friends recently made me a lovely hamper - it had some 'mummy' themed bubble bars from lush - a ma bar, comforter bar and hot milk bar - which were very well received - as well as some nice warm socks, a body puff, choccies and some 'high in iron' goodies (as I'm deficient) such as fruit gums and star bars (contain nuts for iron). I thought it was very thoughtful.
Other ideas could be a small bottle of champagne - poss with some nice glasses for the both of them, any lovely creams/lotions and potions, a lovely blanket/dressing gown or new slippers, a piece of jewelley with the babies birthstone etcMANAGED TO CLEAR A 3K OVERDRAFT IN ONE FRUGAL, SUPER CHARGED MONEY EARNING MONTH!:j
£10 a day challenge Aug £408.50, Sept £90
Weekly.

a friend of ours did a bottle hamper so some baby bottles, some bottles of beer, mini bottles of wine (those taster ones) and some soft drink bottles, which was such a fab idea. (they did it for another friend in our friendship group)
I night nanny and sometimes get enquiries from people who just want to book one night for a friend or relative as a gift so the new parents can enjoy one nights sleep. so maybe see if someone in your area offers a night nanny service if £100-£120 isnt out of your price range. I am in east midlands and most enquiries I get are London based.0 -
Mothercare have got a photo frame reduced from £15 to £4.70 online - it is a pine frame with the word FAMILY cut out so that you put a picture in each letter. I have just got 3 for different people I know who are having babies this year.0

Don't forget muslin squares for baby - they are so so useful for mopping up all sorts of baby mess and wash really well. Couldn't have coped without mine!0

I'm doing something similar but am giving my friend
A changing bag (which includes a changing mat)
+
All the bits that may come in useful to put in the bag:
- change of clothes (I got it from American Apparel with 15% off from filling out their survey)
- Bib
- Muslins
- Baby wipes travel case (if anyone knows where I can get a hard travel container I would be eternally grateful!)
- Hand gel
- Anti-bacterial wipes
- Toy
- Sudocream
Plus a baby photo album for both parents to enjoy.
