Second thoughts - its a silly idea - property is absolutely tanking right now with no hope of recovery for the forseeable. Gold it is. Not in any of the means tested categories so a safe bet.
Thanks everyone.
I think your conduct of this discussion has given a very clear demonstration of the reasons why you lost your job. The combination of qualities that you have displayed -- dishonesty, stupidity, and anger at anyone who contradicts your view of the world -- is one that any reasonable employer can well do without. I suggest that you use your spell of unemployment for a little reflection and personal growth, or else it may prove to be permanent.0 -

After the six months of course, if you have below the threshold for savings, you can be on the Income-based straight away and then your mortgage-interest will get paid.
No...
You can claim JSA (CB) and (IB) at the same time you do not have to wait for your CB to run out so any one entitled to claim for a spouse/partner or mortgage (having served the appropriate waiting period) would be entitled to IB as well as CB when CB run out IB would continue.
But this seems irrelevant to this OP as he has savings his partner works full time (?) the mortgage would not qualify as it had been taken out within 26 weeks of making a claim for IB if he could make a claim that is. I can see why someone who is entitled to claim CB being upset they are not entitled to other benefits due to savings etc after all they have been paying tax etc, but the system is there to support people who have found themselves in difficulty not to allow them to buy a house, but to support them at a minimum level until times improve.0
