I do read it occasionally - one could spend the entire day looking at news and I tend to keep it to the Indy, FT, Times and Guardian unless someone posts an article to something else. There are a couple of blogs I read as well - one is http://cynicuseconomicus.blogspot.com/ which is very well written and the author is obviously quite intelligent, and a prophet of gloom!0 -

Also, the Telegraph is the most read online, followed by the Guardian, followed closely by the Mail.
Good idea to check your facts before posting! January newspaper hit info:
The online editions of those UK national newspapers publishing monthly Audit Bureau of Circulation traffic data have recorded significant increases.
The recently renamed Guardian.co.uk, the UK's most popular newspaper website, recorded a 24 per cent month-on-month traffic increase in January. Moving to 19,708,711 unique visitors after recording 15,955,312 in December.
It also recorded a year-on-year increase of nearly 26 per cent.
The website of the Daily Mail/Mail on Sunday closed the gap on the Guardian by recording a 31 per cent month-on-month increase in users. Jumping to 17,903,172 unique users in January.
Also The Torygraph, unbiased? You must be joking there!0 -

1. I didn't say the telegraph was unbiased, infact I haven't mentioned it at all apart from say it was most read.
2. That article above? It's dated February 2008.
May 2008
Telegraph.co.uk has for the first time replaced Guardian.co.uk as the UK's most popular newspaper website, according to monthly traffic figures released today by the Audit Bureau of Circulation Electronic (ABCE).

I tend to read around a bit; The Independent, Telegraph and Guardian are all well worth reading, though they each have unapologetic bias. The BBC news website is probably the most impartial mainstream UK news source. For good measure, when it comes to foreign affairs, I try to read the english-language websites of foreign newspapers, such as the Times of India (http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/), Tehran Times (http://www.tehrantimes.com/), Novaya Gazeta (http://en.novayagazeta.ru/), Kommersant (http://www.kommersant.com/pda/) used to be interesting too, but they've stopped adding English articles. :-(
Finally, to get an idea of what the 'man in the street' may well me thinking, I glance over the Sun and the Daily Mail's website. Gives me an idea of what sort of arguments I may expect to deal with...0 -
Daily Mail has to be the most unbiased. It agrees with everything that the self-serving harrumphing bigots believe in - and we know that they are right. So it MUST be the most balanced.0

Just curious. You state "we know that they are right". Who's we?
The "we need to label everyone with a different outlook" society?0 -

That was sarcasm. Although judging from some of the posters on here, there are various examples of Wail-types who are very self-righteous.0 -
LOL at those saying the Guardian is unbiased!
The fact is there's no unbiased source of news, everyone has an agenda, you just have to read between the lines and compare different sources to try to get a rough idea of the truth, so far as it exists.'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0 -
There is no such thing as an unbiased report. There is a tendancy to view anything that supports your own opinions on a subject as unbiased!! Far better to read a variety and make your own mind up as to what is the truth. Often papers will have journalists with different leanings contradicting each other within a few paragraphs of each other.0

The Economist as well is excellent - think I'm going to take out a subscription.
Look around on-line - if you subscribe for 3 years you get about 75% off the cover price (especially if you claim to be an academic), free delivery to your door and free access to the website.I think....0
