    Suggested stock for MATHUBUY :

Empty egg boxes for seed starter trays

Bottled used washing up water for getting rid of green fly

"Scrap" paper which has already been used on one side

Reusable Christmas decorations instead of the current fad for throwing them out & buying new ones each year

Money-off coupons for more up-market fashionable shops

Spare buttons otherwise you just have to throw away your newly distressed old clothes when one pops off

Vegetable peelings & the water from the cooked veggies for "Make your own Soup/Stock"

Draft excluders for people who can't roll up a towel

MATH : Please can I be in charge of coupons, just so that I can get my own back on the ******** at my local Tesco who have stopped taking them?

Was in the small local supermarket when I saw pancake batter in a jar - just add milk and shake - enough for 4 to 6 pancakes. Guess how much?

    Over a pound!

To buy 6 ready made pancakes would cost the same and I can get pancake batter mix in Netto for about 25 pence!

They must hope people have more money than sense!

I can't believe people would buy that especially when pancake batter is so simple to make.

The thing is that supermarkets are selling their stuff based on our own ignorance and lack of time. They monitor what is becoming the new trend in fashion. And fashion I mean in clothes, food, cleaning stuff..everything.. Then produce a product that meets that new trend. The aim is to sell to the masses & if the new trend looks like it will move into mainstream then they will do something about it to make money.

In the 80's there was a woman's clothes fashion/trend to wear second hand old mans jackets. So the shops came up with their own version & you could get a copy of it in shops like Top Shop!

People (mainstream) are now learning about the power of lemon, vinegar & hay they now contain these things. The TV is helping to make Old Style more mainstream.

So what as long as the general public is ignorant the supermarkets & any company can sell us what ever they like. You could sell lemon juice in an easy spray bottle.. £2 a bottle. Vinegar in an easy spray bottle for £3 "environmentally & will cut down all greese". Just buy your own vinegar 7 put it in your own leftover spray bottle!!!!

In one shop you can buy 4 tiny sacket of oil for £4 to deep condition your hair..but just walk 1min down the same shop, the same oil in a large bottle for much much less than half. So just put the product into tiny containers (makes it convience - we are all so busy) & with instruction of how to use it (we are ignorant on how to use products & not an OSer) & finally put it in a fancy designer box (will only buy it if the package looks good) then put an advert with a famous person that you would normally see in "Hello" (Oh I will use that product because famous person X uses it). Oh and also hick up the price to cover all your above costs(if it is expensive then it must be better).

Can anyone add to this. What do you think.

I find it hard sometimes to think OS as I am constantly being presented with "easy & convenient" options & because of my ignorant I don't know about the easier OS way which will be cheaper & more environmentally sound.

p.s. what does baking sodar do for your teeth (you see my ignorance) ?
pps. sorry for coming across optionated.. Its the way I talk & I am very open to opposing views.

MATH - don't forget to leave room on your shelves for jars of air :D

I'm sure between us we can source 'clean fresh air' from all different parts of the country - country fresh, seaside fresh, etc. You could have small jars for inhaling while you're sitting in the traffic jam, and large jars for throwing at your laundry for that "dried outside" smell :rotfl:

(actually - I shouldn't have posted that on here. I can see Tescos and Sainsburys fighting over the production of that novel idea..... :D)

It whitens them & freshens breath into the bargain. My dentist recommends using cheap toothpaste & dabbing the brush into a pot of bicarb before brushing to achieve the same thing and he isn''t even an Old Styler (no need, he's a private dentist:rolleyes:)

LOL, What great ideas and suprisingly not as daft as some products already on the market. hehehehe. I especially like the fresh air in a bottle idea (I think we may have been here before on a long ago forgotten thread). Sea Breeze, Woodland Glade and Chip Shop I can see as big sellers. LOL
