Anyone able to offer any advice, Im wanting to get into IT as ive done a btec diploma at college but as my experience is a bit thin im finding im getting rejected alot. There has been jobs which ive applied for and had interviews but I dont get a callback as explained in the interview or I dont get a callback even when it was promised in the interview. I can build a computer, replace hard, dvd drive, replace ram or add new ram, install O/S and other software eg office 2007, connect printer to a computer and use word, excel, powerpoint and . I understand due to my experience i cant expect a wage advertised for someone with experince but im prepared to start at the bottom and work up. Im registered with and check daily the following: reed, total jobs, jobsite, cv library, job centre website, nhs jobs, and Im registered with teravail and another agency in town. I dont particulary want to go back to college and do another course due to the cost and the fact theres no guarantee I would be in a better position. I thought about doing voluntary work for IT for africa as theres a charity nearby who do it but theres a waiting list so thats up the spout

I assume from what you can do that you would start as a desktop engineer and then perhaps progress to another area once you have more experience.
What about writing speculative letters including your c.v. to medium and large national/international IT organisations and telecommunications in your area? You could try Fujitsu, EDS, Capgemini, IBM, Hewlett Packard, BT and AT&T or just to other types of organisation who possibly have big IT departments.I'll never be a Money Saving Expert while my kids are Mony Spending Experts.0 -

even though i dont have any actual work experience to back up what i know what i can do, yes ill give the letter bit a try, i think part of the fact is that i ddint look for a job even part time once id completed the second year, im even prepared to drive an hour say to get to the mployer so im covering what i feel a large area, i can drive anywhere to wiltshire, gloucestershire and north somerset0 -

not for friends just family but even then it wasnt much ive done, just little bits like setup a buffalo linkstation,
its just knowing who would have a decent sized IT division that i could easily get to,
i even thought about doing some voluntary work at my old school but again that went down the pan but they suggested i try another local school and the guy i emailed said he would pass on my details but again that went balls up or no one contacted me from the school0
