Cold Caller

Thanks for the advice

I've called my mobile company and i am on the list which means people arnt supposed to call me. They said they can do nothing to let me know who called due to data protection act unless the police request it, which is frustrating as it means these people can get away with whatever they like it seems.
But yes, on one hand i am very pleased i managed to wind him up so well
It certainly amused my workmates in the pub, however that nagging feeling that it might turn out to be someone who actually worked for a debt collection agency i wasn't aware of or someone in the bank who was calling me on the sly to try and find out whether they should take away my overdraft is sitting there in the back of my mind making me paranoid
It's probably irrational i know, but I really dont like the fact this person knows who i am and yet i can't find out who on earth they are! And the fact he took it so seriously - most cold callers just get annoyed when you mess them about, but to say 'do you not realise who i am' 'you'll be hearing from me soon' 'you've made a big mistake' seem like a strange choice of words for someone who just calls people all day trying to sell things.0 -

Nah, I can't see that happening - would surely be way too risky & irresponsible, even by their standards!? The fact that he didn't tell you where he was calling from or repeat it when you asks suggests it ain't legit. The more people resort to threats and bullying, the less likely they are to be genuine. If you have the law behind you, why would you resort to such ridiculous cliches in your bestest angry gangster voice??
He he, I think you answered your own question...poor little termite gets told about dishwashers all day every day!! :rotfl:Everyone's got their breaking point! I would compare it to those lovely little trolls who venture onto here sometimes...they can only wield their power and act like the big guy from behind a keyboard, this guy uses his phone.Abstract_thoughts wrote: »It's probably irrational i know, but I really dont like the fact this person knows who i am and yet i can't find out who on earth they are! Well after a nights sleep im a lot less worried about it - sleep deprevation + Beer + angry threats from an annonymous person with my name and address arn't a good combination

Thanks for all the comments. if anyone hears a cold caller in the future who gets angry when asked about dishwashers be sure to pass on his details to me

If I were you I would still make a report to the police - if it comes to nothing then thats great. If he has your number he may simply try signing you up to a few websites so they begin calling you. Hopefully if he does anything then that will be the worst of it. I'd still make a report.
Okay you were messing him about; however who is to say that he doesn't threaten someone else down the phone. Someone who isn't as laid back as you.
He must know as part of his job he is going to get people like you who don't want the service. He should know just to put down the phone.0 -
Ive called the police, got an incident number and been told to expect a call back.
Wish i'd been as quick thinking as this guy, dishwashers are fun, but not quite up to this standard
