Do we need Wedding Insurance?

Hi All
I've been an avid reader of the forums and never really felt the need to ask any questions until now.
In the last couple of weeks, my fiance and I have actually sat down to start preparations for our wedding.
We've read numerous magazines, websites, etc... and they all pretty much suggest that as part of the planning we should take out Wedding Insurance.
I've read the Which? website entry in regards to whether we need it if we pay for goods on credit card, etc and I'm of the opinion that we'll pretty much be covered by paying for goods on the credit card.
Admittedly, if either of us is ill or something beyond our control occurs - this is where the insurance would kick in, but do we really need it?
Will Wedding Insurance protect against damage to the venue and things like that?
If Wedding Insurance is recommended - has anyone got any providers that they would suggest?
Thanks

Personally I would take the insurance anyway.
Marks and spencers are meant to be very good.Money, money, money, must be funny....in a rich mans world.

Definitely do not book anything until you've taken out adequate insurance!!!
You never know what is going to happen - just reading this forum about hotels cancelling/being double booked/burning down etc is enough to send you to the insurance search websites! LOL
I think it would be madness to risk it - you can bet your bottom dollar that if I'd taken a gamble, then something awful would have happened and I would have lost thousands of pounds!0 -
Some venues insist you take out liability insurance, we need to take out 5 million for ours!
We are definitely getting insurance, then if any supplier screws up, goes out of business, whatever you'll be covered, mind you if it happens just before the big day, it could potentially ruin things!
There are plenty of specialist companies than can beat M+S and other quotes, depends what cover you need.0 -
Does wedding insurance cover things already paid for? We have booked the reception venue and photographer so far and paid deposits for both.
We weren't going to bother with insurance tbh, but getting worried now about the possibiliy of businesses going bankrupt etc. so we probably will go for it!Life must be lived forwards, but can only be understood backwards - Kierkegaard0 -
^ Yes but check when you book. Most ask for the ceremony venue and date on booking, as many people will book these first/before the insurance.0

I found a great company some of the other girls recamended, it was called bid day insurance.
I found via a website www.centralweddings.co.uk - its only good if you live in the midlands area as it provides info for local brides, although the wedding insurance advertised on there covers the uK and getting married aborad.
Central Weddings also have a FREEto enter compertition. All you have to do is click one of the links to the supper and you are entered into the draw. I have entered about 7 or 8 times.
Well Thats it.
