I LOVE the idea of taking the decortions round for him to do. Such a fab idea! Thanks everyone
Hope the local Co-op have some fun icing pens etc. Will have a look when my lo wakes up.

Anything chocolate in my experience, but with most littlies I would avoid fruit cake - unless it has marzipan and then expect the cake stripped clean of marzipan in 5 seconds!0

I think the decorating is lovely as an activity - my eldest two - aged 5 and 7 love doing that. Another easy thing to do would be to make up some gingerbread dough and take it with you for them to roll out and cut into fun shapes.
In terms of cake eating have to say that all of mine, baby too, seem to like any cakes but their absolute fave is bog standard (but absolutely delicious) lemon drizzle cake. Also make American cookies, refridgerator cake and fruity flapjacks which they take in their lunchboxes.
Have fun!0 -
I find chocolate cornflake/Rice Crispie cakes a really good way of using up a half finished box that's been open a while, and i've never met anyone who doesn't like them! Can even get them to make them as v little cooking apart from melting the chocolate£2 Coin Savers Club £14 :j (joined 18/2/06)0

Mine (now 7 and 10) dislike any cakes with sweets on them, or even hundreds and thousands. Glace icing in different colours is OK and they like chocolate. Their favourites (and very easy) are choc chip fairy cakes, or a sponge cake, although DD2 wont eat any cake with jam in.
They are a bit fussy though, but I think making the cake/s and letting the children decorate them is a good idea, and my DD1 loves decorating cakes with icing pens.
Muddled midget - I made rice crispie cakes with my DD1 and although she made them she refused to eat one! (More for me)
They are strange I know - they get it from their dad!0 -
