1950's Wedding Presents.

Options
I am left with numerous small sets of EPNS boxed cutlery, which were given to my parents as wedding gifts in the fifties and have never been used.
These include 4 boxes of coffee spoons and some teeny cake forks amongst others. The boxes are tatty though and it all needs a good clean. I am not likely to ever use them and they appear to have no value on ebay. I doubt the charity shop would want them. What has anyone else done in this situation? It seems disrespectful (for some obscure reason!) just to chuck them, but I'm trying to declutter. Should I just shove them back in the cupboard?

  • Cake forks and things like that do seem to go on ebay - my mum collects sugar tongs and 'cake' things and anything like this that's advertised as 'vintage' and 'shabby chic' does seem to get bids. I don't sell on ebay so I'm not sure how it works but if it's going to cost you nothing but your time then it might be worth listing them.

If not, I'm sure you could donate them to a charity shop - just put them in a carrier bag, hand them over and run lol!
  • OOHH - Wish you were near me as I've been looking in charity shops etc for some cake forks for ages!

That would be a nice idea, but not allowed on MSE unfortunately!

I have had a flash of inspiration for something crafty to make using the coffee spoons. If it comes to fruition, I'll post it on the Special Occasions Board, if not they'll be going to the Charity shop. From all your posts, there're still people who would like these little things!

Thanks for your responses, was feeling a bit maudlin going through my mum's things this morning. Feeling better now!
