Delivering & Collecting Catalogues

Has anyone tried delivering or collecting catalogues? I’ve seen ads in the local paper before and now that I’m expecting my first baby I thought it would be an easy way to make some extra money.

I filled in the form on the website and got a call from a very nice man. The minimum is 6 hours per week done whenever you want. He’s coming round on Thurs evening to go talk about it. The only thing that worries me is that it says “full training given” and he mentioned he was doing a training course this week. How much training do you need to deliver a catalogue? Do you think this might be something more dodgy?

  • I'll put a tenner on its Kleeneze !
Anyone else want to join in ?
  • If its Kleeneze stay away as they charge you for your catalogues.

Betterware charge you nothing, however it is not as easy as it sounds. My OH was outta work last year for 6mths and things became so desperate he decided to give this a shot, he bought a bag to lug the catalogues around.

Before i knew it, i was helping him out after i finished work, because it just took so long. You need a hell of a lot of streets to make it worthwhile and the amount of stuff that takes over your house is unreal, boxes after boxes and we live in flat so the extra stuff was driving me mad.

You spend hours making cards to pop in the front so people know your name and number and what day you're calling back to pick it up. It takes a long time to bag them up and you then get people binning the catalogues, leaving rude messages.

He did make a bit of money from it and it was nice having it, but just wasn't worth the hassle. We thought we'd keep it up but do it part time when he got full time work, but we were super quick to hand it all back once he got a job.

  • Thanks guys. So do you still have to process all the orders like with Avon and coordinate and sort all the deliveries or do you just give everything to the company and they sort the orders out? If so it's not exactly just delivering and collecting is it.
  • Sometimes you will just get a job delivering and collecting the catalogues as you'll be working for a leader who employs people to do the hard work for them. That way you don't get involved in the ordering side of it, or having the orders taking over your house.
  • Well I could do that as long as I don't have to pay anything out in the first place and someone else does the co-ordinating. I'll have to see what the man says on Thursday then decide.
    Thanks again
  • With betterware it worked like this:

Week 1 - Put cataloagues together and deliver
Week 2 - Catalogues picked up, orders put onto company order form. Representive comes for order form.
Week 3 - Your orders dropped off, you deliver them and collect money. Representive comes to collect money and gives you your %.

Thats in the simply world, orders sometimes late, people not in when you deliver, so you have to ring them and go back out again, so can take longer to get the money you've earn't from your orders.

    So then your house becomes:

    - Box of catalogues
    - Box of bags for the catalogues
    - Box of order forms to go with catalogues
    - Box of company order forms for you to put customer orders onto
    - Box of orders to be delivered to people
    - Box of plastic bags to put orders in

You can see why we didn't like it, our flat was just a nightmare with all this stuff.

Like others have said it's not as easy as you first think! Me and my OH started doing Kleeneze about 4 weeks ago - and we've found out the hard way that it just doesn't work (at least for us, I know it does for others) - with Kleeneze you don't have a set area, so we found that wherever we tried at least 2 other distributors had left catalogues that week!!! So the orders we did get were tiny, at the max £30 from over 100 catalogues - when you factor in delivery charges, and the internet ordering charge of £7.50 a month it just wasn't worth it for us!

However, we started Avon at the same time and have done really well from it, partly cos work colleagues/family order but mainly because you have a set area, if people are going to order then it will be with you. Also, there are no internet/delivery charges or charges for things like order forms. You do have to pay for your brochures though which is understandable.

Betterware sounded good to us, we applied, and had a phonecall saying there wasn't a manager in our area so they couldn't take us on! But, they have no charge for brochures. Not sure about anything else though.

Depends who this man is working for I guess!!!

    Hi,

I work for Kleeneze so if you'd like to ask me any questions then please feel free.I'm also a full-time student so if you want any info on how it all balances out part-time then i'm your girl. Lol.

I would say that you should probably listen to what this man has to say with an open mind. Whichever company (if its even any of those mentionned) this man works for, I can guarantee it will work for some people and not others and you'll never know until you try. If you are sceptical ask him about what money back guarantees are on offer.

The fact that he's mentionned training isn't dodgy at all! It means he wants you to succeed which is very important. You're right, not much training is required to hand out catalogues but with Kleeneze we often give our newbies training as to how to understand their first statements, how to make the most of their new opportunity, testimonials from people who have done it in the past and hints/tips on things like record keeping.

Could you remember who had ordered/not returned your catalogues etc without clear record keeping?

Whoever he's with, give it a chance ;)
