Help somebody

I called hfc regarding 3 accounts , they said it would be best if i offered over the phone a reduced final settlement, i know this is wrong it should be in writing. Im thinkn if i negotiate for something that suits me and i get them to send me this in writing that would be a good thing ?
If that doesnt work should i revert to sending them the offer through the post ?

I suspect they mean it would be better for them. I'd stick to writing and make sure you make it clear that there is no further money so haggling would be useless.

  • Hi James

Are GP running a DMP for you??? If so take your business to one of these not-for profit orgs that will do the same for free

You will have the same problem re F&F settlement (ie have to sort it yourself) and it is very important that when they confirm their offer you get certain things from them (like confirmation that they will mark the debt settled on your credit report - but there are other experts on here that can give chapter and verse on that)

If you switch to a non fee charging DMP company they may be able to get the interest frozen and in any event the creditors will get more of the cash that you pay each month so that the debt goes down faster.

  • Yes ill take note of your comments, i want to finally get rid of this debt, credit card debt is a killer ive had 4 cars since i was 17 and never had a prob with credit until i came into contact with credit cards.

Yes GP(they helped at start) are running the DMP for me they are charging to much sooo when i mentioned an offer to GP of £1000(for final settlement) they laughed at me(no longer helping me). So taking the matter into my own hands its the only way forward.

I'm going to call HFC tomorrow see what sort of offers they are looking for, if its not going to be in my range, and hopefully they will agree and send everything in writing.

I'll update this if theyre are going to be good or bad.
