Sofas for 2nd Reception Room - Homebase v Ikea?

We are moving soon. We have a second reception planned for guests and we want to buy something like this:

This is 'Catania' currently selling in Argos and Homebase and will cost us around £850. Alternatively we are also looking at Kramfors from Ikea which is the same price.

However we will probably have to add to both sets (like a chaise to position opposite) so will cost a bit more. We like the look of Catania better but are not sure if it's worth spending on as we have heard negative things Homebase/Argos sofas.
We have 3 kids plus one on the way so not really wanting to fork out a lot.
We may consider buying Kramfors for our main living room and shifting the ones we have into the 2nd reception
.
Any thoughts to share?
thanks

I prefer the Kramfors for our "second sitting room" .. and am having one delivered this week
I think it is much more contemporary.
I have a toddler and appreciate a leather chair for wiping up spillages. Will the top one be easy to keep clean? Have you been able to try it out? I know Homebase has a 10% discount this weekend just gone...
I suppose if they are both in budget, it really depends on the style you want and which is most comfortable for you.0 -
How about www.nabru.co.uk
Ive ordered my sofa from there. fantasitc price and you make ur own basicall,
We looked round dfs and the likes and was so expensive comparing to what we have ordered.
Its coming tmrw cant wait! Different materials and styles available. If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -
Thanks had a look at Nabru but nothing I really liked. The second reception will hardly be used but i don't know if i want to go for really cheap. We're estimating Kramfors to cost around £1350 plus. I've got money saved up and do want something that's going to last.
I'm considering this for our everyday use:

The large and small sofa come to £1950 but it being John Lewis maybe it's worth spending this much for something that will last around ten years? Or not?

The John Lewis one does look fab and you'd probably get decent customer service if anything went wrong.
Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!" Less things. Less stuff. More life.

Just been on the sofasofa website and can buy a similar one to John Lewis (Abbey) for the same price but with a footstool . This is really confusing!!
Sofasofa v John Lewis, hmmph!!0 -
Babybimbles, what about delivery costs are they comparable too? Best of luck.

I haven't thought of that to be honest. Thomas Lloyd/sofasofa delivery is £50, Homebase is only £5.80 (unless I got that wrong) and JL is free. That doesn't make much difference to be honest. Just need to see if its worth spending more.0 -
Hi I brought 2 sofas from SofaSofa and I'm very disappointed. Both sofas are meant to be 3 seaters but they are comparable to a 2 seater!
The seating area is rubbish as it is too small yet pictures on their website make it look BIG. The back cushions have gaps in the middle and at the ends.
I contacted SofaSofa, they arranged for pickup of the cushions, phoned me to say that cushions are OK but said they would refill all of them.
Problem now is that I now have less of a seating area as the cushions are plumpier than before.
Sent a letter of complaint to the MD and received a call from an assistant manager who has the tendancy of over speaking over you which is irratating.
To cut a long story short, they are willing to do nothing about it!
Therefore from my experience, don't buy because you may be deceived like I have been and then kicked to the kerb when you complain!0
