Hi ,
following a recommendation from an MSE'r I bought a Canon Pixma MP170 and I am very happy with it,
BUT
I am struggling to find cheap replacement ink for it and I am completely baffled by all the different threads, especially as I can't seem to find an exact match for my printer.
Can anyone help please????

Compatabiles arnt out yet for the newer Canons as they have chipped carts so its originals only at the moment0

Will chipped cartridge printers spell the end for compatibles, do you think?"Some say the cup is half empty, while others say it is half full. However, this is skirting around the issue. The real problem is that the cup is too big."0

Chipped means its got a microchip built into the cartridge that can talk to the printer, Canon have just produced these type of carts so compatabile makers will have to work out how to make similar mircochips before they can produce the compatible carts, Epson carts have chips on them but have done for several years so thats why there are plenty of chipped Epson carts available.0

Dont think so as Epsons have chipped for years and there are loads of compatibles for those about.0 -
Guys,
Thanks for the explanation, BUT I still have no idea where to buy resonably priced replacements. I have looked at the Cannon thread but cannot find any mention of my printer, so any help would be greatly appreciated.Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body,
