cccs concern

Hi,
although I have heard may positive things about CCCS, i decided not to go with them as when they said they would call me to have an initial talk, they didnt! I had scheduled to call me at 8.30 in the morning, so I even had a few hours off work, but nothing happened. When I did call them, they said there had been a misunderstanding!
When I did reschedule, the adviser I spoke to was very disheartening and when I did ask a few questions, his response was 'maybe CCCS is not right for you', and after a quick chat, it was if he wanted to just get off the phone as soon as he could!
CCCS at the time was my only hope, but have learned my lesson I guess!
Just thought I would share this, and would like to know if anyone else has ever had this problem with them.
Thanks
N (PS - my 1st post of many - what a fab site!)

Really sorry to hear this. Sounds unusal for CCCS.
Have you tried Payplan or CAB who are also free?Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Hi Neil, I had to go it alone too after consultation with CCCS. They seemed hell bend on trying to persuade me that bankruptcy was the only solution. In my case bankruptcy is NOT a solution as if I lose my house I won't be able to afford to rent in the area where I live, besides my house has about 3k equity maximum atm. I'll say the same again what I told my ex when he tried to force me to sell....."they'll take me outta here in a body bag" and I meant that!:j Got the loan and now down from £9k to £4.5k. Trying to get a better mortgage deal now but thanks to ex-husband I am being knocked back..... Still in a better place than two years ago. Have faith!:j0

thats exactly what they told me! About bankrupty, that made me feel quite down as well!! Luckily now Im hoping to pull myself together and would not turn to them at all if I did want a management plan.
The last thing you want is o be demoralised at a time like that!0 -
Hi Neil 10
sorry no experience of CCCS, [although have heard a lot of good things about them from others on MSE]
We are with Payplan and they have been great, it might be worth giving them a ring tomorrow
good luck and hang in there0 -
Thanks for the fab advice, I made a mistake and turned to Debt Matters, would it be too much hassle to switch over to Payplan from them?
Dont get me wrong, DM are very very reliable, but its the 15% interest that bugs me!! Now that i seem to be in more control of my creditors, would shifting to Payplan just heat things back up again, by distrupting the creditors?0 -

Hi Neil
Switching shouldn't be too hard and creditors will probably welcome it as they will see more of the money that you are paying each month. 15% is quite a bit to be paying in fees.
Good luck getting sorted and sorry you had a rough ride with CCCS, as others have said, do try one of the other free to use guys, generally feedback is good although like any other organisation you never know when you are going to get a pillock or someone having an off day.£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

thanks, will be on the phone this week to them. Seems that both times I have spoke to CCCS they seemed to be having an off day for some reason, what a put off!0

Hi Neil 10
shouldn't be a problem transferring over to one of the 'non-charging' companies, however I would recommend that you check the small print with your current company.
payplan and cccs are recommended by most creditors as debt management companies to use, so should be quite smooth to transfer0 -
Yep, as others have said, the creditors are more likely to accept your dmp from Payplan as they know they are getting all the money you are paying. I was recommended by my creditors to use a non fee charging company as they were more likely accept a dmp from them.
Good luck.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free
