4' headboard - where are they?

Can anyone help? I'm downsizing to a 4' bed but can't find a headboard - have they all gone to the headboard graveyard? Does anyone know who might stock them or does anyone have a pattern for a wooden one I could get made up by do-it-himself?
Or should I saw 6" off the 4'6" one and drape a scarf over the cut end !

I've got the same problem. I'm thinking of padding a piece of MDF and fixing it straight to the wall (when I say I I actually mean my husband) :D

With a wooden one it's quite easy to reposition the struts at the back to fit a 4ft bed & once done the extra 3" either side are not even noticeable once the bed is made up.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • Dora - Hi There

I bought a 4' headboard about 12 months ago on the net at
bespokebeds dot com. It is fab and was quite reasonable.

    Take a look.

I made an odd sized headboard. MDF from local diy store, covered it with a duvet (or two if you want more padding) then get some lovely material and cover it completely. It costs next to nothing and you can pick your fabric to match exactly. If you get bored in a few years, change the fabric. I hung mine on the wall with heavy duty D shaped things that slotted together (useless description I know).
