Advice please - Currys!!

Options
Hi all,

I ordered a TV from Currys on Wednesday and the guy at the desk messed up my transaction. As I left the store, I noticed that the receipt he had issued me with looked like an exchange receipt with no details of my debit card or personal details such as name/signature. I went straight back into the store and he told me that it was a valid receipt but on further questioning agreed to make me a photocopy of the original receipt with my card no and signature on, which he gave me while he kept the original.

Now I'm a bit worried that if there's a problem they wont accept my proof of purchase!! I havent received the TV yet so im wondering whether i should try and cancel my order tomorrow and get a refund (as its only been 5 days!) Also i've seen the tv cheaper in dixons now!!

What does everyone else think??

  • Id be getting my money back and starting again, irrelevent of finding it cheaper, they have given you cause for concern and they need to fix that for you.....
  • thanks mrdtrotter...i think i'll get on to that asap. they can't refuse me a refund can they if i have a photocopy of an original and a kind of 'exchange' type receipt printed off minutes later by the same guy?

Also can i get a refund at a currys.digital if i placed the order at currys?
  • I wouldnt of thought so, if your not sure take a mini-statement from your bank showing the transaction and alse just remind them of your right to 14 days cooling off period, worse case scenario ask for the manager ad stand your ground, customer is king and all that.....
  • Everything is on the computer, if you give your surname and postcode in they can bring up anything you've bought and anything you've returned.

The reason he probably did an exchange was that if the tv was being delivered, it would of had to of been ordered. If you don't hit order when you proccess it, it msut be then exchanged and done correctly and is why you will of got an exchanged receipt rather than charging your card twice.

If you still want a refund, you can go to currys, currys digital or pc world
  • Its safer to go to the chain you got it from as some managers can be a pain in the !!! when it comes to cross chain refunds. To make it easier i always suggest popping into the one you got the item from
